The voice mail transcription has been very handy and I love the ability to call people from the web and have it ring my phone of choice. However, I'm running into a few snags.

I am losing calls after about 15 minutes when someone calls me on my Google number. Is this a publicized limitation or a bug I should be reporting?

Also, I've found that I can't SMS everyone equally. For instance, I was not able to SMS Twitter. :( Found out when I tried to change my phone number assigned to Twitter. So much for free SMS love with Twitter.

So, I trample on with these minor annoyances. Just like many initial ventures in "The Cloud", my initial bleeading should be replaced by enlightenment and a competitive edge over your competitors and fellow geeks.

My G-Life picks up speed with Google Sync

I'm a Blackberry guy. Mostly because I live in a small town in Iowa and like to travel to even smaller towns when my family heads "back home" to the western side of the state. Blackberries are cool in and of themselves, but when you can add Google goodies, this smart devices take on a whole new meaning.

I use Google Talk on my Blackberry to stay in touch with my wife, friends, and a choice group of co-workers. I have my gmail sent to my Blackberry, and use Google Reader more on my Blackberry then on my computer. Don't forget Google Maps, either.

Tonight I found: http://www.google.com/mobile/#p=blackberry and feel like a kid in a candy store. First up tonight is Google Sync. This will allow me to take advantage of my Google Calendar and Contacts on my Blackberry. Awesome!! I'm installing now, will report back on the experience. I'm excited at my new G-Life on my Blackberry (just found the Google Voice app earlier this week). In the paraphrased words of Homer Simpson: "Google, is there anything they can't do?" :)

UPDATE: Wow!! Just added a calendar item to my Blackberry, then manually sync-ed up with my Gmail. The appointment is now on my Gmail! Very cool. One phone to rule them and in Google's non-evil darkness bind them.....or something like that.

Will post more google voice findings and thoughts as I find them. In the meantime, holler if you have any questions? vseanclark@gmail.com

Google Voice prep

Okay, so I have my Google Voice account. W00t!! But now what?

I need to give people the number. But if I don't force people to use it, how will I ever experience the joy of Google Voice? My plan is to let everyone know I've changed my cell phone number and then slip them the Google Voice number. Then after about a 1 week grace period, I will actually go and change my cell phone number and never give it out again. From that point forward I will be able to fully enjoy the benefits of Google Voice.

That's the game plan. No I just need to get a few more beta users on Google Voice and force myself to get trained on it better so that I'll be ready for the big switch. My first victim: my loving wife of 10 years. :)

My Google Life

I just got Google Voice today. I've been waiting for months. It is awesome, so far. I'm going "all-in" with Google at the moment. Hence, me deleting all the old blog posts here (they are all on seanclark.us anyway). I'm starting fresh and now I'm living la vida Google.
